Wunderkind Is Opening a Second Shop in Montecito

••• Montecito’s Wunderkind is opening a location on Coast Village Road, in the former optometry office next to Tre Lune. The space is three times as large as the Upper Village jewel box, and founder Philip Manghisi says the merchandise will be more casual, with apparel for women and men.

••• An outpost of The Bar Method is apparently coming to 1101 Anacapa Street (at Figueroa). It’s “a boutique fitness studio offering barre classes for students of all levels. The signature method uses your own body weight, the ballet barre and a few props to create a transformative workout that results in long, lean sculpted muscles.”

••• Vandenberg Space Force Base has a new motto: “Welcome to Space Country – Gateway to the Future!” It was crowdsourced, which might help to explain the exclamation point.

••• Julie James Cutforth, founder of Josephine Home in Sherman Oaks, is moving her business to the Santa Ynez Valley:

My husband Dan and I have spent significant time contemplating our future, the importance of quality time with our family, and achieving better work-life balance. As a result, we have decided to shift towards spending more time at our 5-acre “ranchette” in one of our favorite places, the Santa Ynez Valley.

Josephine Home will continue to provide curated home decor and goods through our online store, as we relocate our Sherman Oaks shop to a spacious outbuilding on our Santa Ynez property over the summer. I will work between my home studio in Los Angeles and Santa Ynez expanding our decorating services to both areas.

The new location (nestled between Santa Ynez and Los Olivos) will be available for in-person shopping by appointment beginning in September 2024 with regular opening hours to follow. Over the next few years, we plan to put more time and energy (and enjoyment) into the SY property. We also want to explore creating a destination where guests can rent the two-bedroom Jo. Home Guest House, shop, and gather for intimate events. […]

not one of the comments on the Pride Parade was made from a Solvang or Valley person as far anyone here can tell, as page posted is a tourist page- so it mostly looks like TROLLS. And they come out when their is no policing of page….

It would be fun if you did a deep dive on the couple who started the big rucus about flags/sidewalks =PRIDE in Solvang and published plans about opening a home for kids who felt out of place in SYV- they’ve abruptly closed their doors and moved out of town(?), leaving many sad about the store Onderchild- which had a last ditch effort to stay open by installing a candy filled hallway at their entrance. No webpage to explain their closing, no last day wishes- nothing. Just gone.
