Wingman Rodeo Is Getting Its Own Place

••• Mesa Burger has a new sandwich with “house-battered fried chicken, dill pickle, housemade sweet and sour cabbage and pepperoncini aioli, all on brioche with a side of fries,” but it’s only available at the Mesa outpost.

••• Wingman Rodeo, which has been operating out of the Shop space on Milpas, is getting its own place, in Old Town Goleta. —Restaurant Guy

••• Rory’s Place, the intriguing restaurant opening in Ojai this summer, emailed out plans for a backyard dinner on May 8 that sold out in an hour. But it might schedule a second one if the waitlist grows long enough. Tickets are $125 and you can email the restaurant at [email protected].

••• Fatte’s Pizza, which has several outposts between Simi Valley and Paso Robles, is opening in the former Santa Barbara Wood Fire Pizza space on De La Vina. You don’t think it’s pronounced “fatty,” do you? —Restaurant Guy

••• The Independent profiles High Seas Mead, which makes fruit-flavored meads.

••• Juice N Things is taking over the former Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf space in Carp. —Restaurant Guy

••• Karen asked what’s up with the Mackenzie Market space at 3102 State Street in San Roque. According to online listing sites, the property went on the market in July 2020 for $5.5 million, and it went pending in November. In February, the market—and Yanni’s Greek & American Deli inside it—closed. And that’s all we know…. The building has terrific charm, and I’d love to see a restaurant there, but I imagine the building will get torn down.

Wow!!! Thank you for that information. If you hear anything please keep us posted our entire San Roque neighborhood is very excited about a new restaurant possibly coming in to this wonderful location. 5.5 million is a hefty price and I wouldn’t be surprised if the new owners paid cash.
