The Saturday Farmers’ Market Is Opening Early for Seniors

••• Yoichi’s on Victoria Street has reopened for dinner takeout, offering bento boxes for $38 per person, and sake can be added. Call at least an hour in advance.

••• The Saturday Santa Barbara farmers’ market is now opening at 8 a.m.—a half hour early—exclusively for seniors. (The minimum age is unclear. And for non-seniors, the regular hours still apply: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.) It seems like something the market organizers would want to mention on social media, and maybe even email to their database….

••• The handsome posters that Acme Hospitality put up around the Funk Zone don’t mention Tyger Tyger, which got me worried that the restaurant isn’t coming back. Owner Sherry Villanueva reassures us that it is: “As you might imagine, reopening a restaurant after a long closure is hard, complicated work so the current openings are what we’ve been able to handle so far. We are now focused diligently on reopening Tyger Tyger and the Paradise Cafe, which will come next!” Related: Santa Barbara Wine Collective is shooting to reopen this Friday.

••• Restaurant Guy posted reopening dates for a bunch of restaurants, including Bluewater Grill (June 18), Farmer Boy (June 22), and Bouchon (June 27). Also of interest: “Bella Vista restaurant at the Biltmore was originally scheduled to reopen in mid-June but will now debut dine-in sometime in July at the earliest.” Presumably, the hotel will reopen at the same time, if not sooner, but it’s still not taking reservations.

••• “A couple of young entrepreneurs have started a new food truck during the Covid-19 pandemic. Wing Drop had their first soft opening Friday. The owners are two brothers James and Thomas Ochsner, aged 22 and 20. […] You can find Wing Drop right off State Street on Haley Street, just behind Craft Ramen.” —KEYT
