••• Acme Hospitality has a new concept at the Funk Zone space that was home to Tyger Tiger and Monkeyshine (and is still the home of Dart Coffee Co.). XO Burger popped-up yesterday and the day before, and I think Friday-SaturdaySunday is the plan for the near future. The most recent menu included the smash burger seen above; fries and dipping sauces (special sauce, black garlic aioli, herbed ranch, and ketchup); and Straus organic soft serve (vanilla or chocolate). The weekend before, a fried chicken sandwich was the star. [Update 11/23: the hours have changed; XO is now open noon-7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday.]
••• Reunion Kitchen + Drink, the new restaurant at East Beach’s Cabrillo Pavilion, has started serving lunch (open daily 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.). The menu is the same as at dinner.
••• Good news: Bar Le Côte in Los Olivos has reopened after that fire.
••• R. asked whether there’s any hope that Los Arroyos would reopen in Solvang (or elsewhere in the Santa Ynez Valley). “Unfortunately I did not find a new space suitable to our needs and decided to close the restaurant,” explained co-owner Maria Arroyo. “As you know this is an extremely hard time for restaurants and even harder on restaurants that were new when Covid hit. All around just bad timing for us. We loved our time in Solvang, and our customers were amazing… maybe someday we will be back. Meanwhile, we focus on our Santa Barbara, Montecito, and Goleta stores and count our many blessings!”
••• “A Carpinteria landmark has hit the market—for $9.85 million. The Palms is a mixed-use development that features a restaurant on the first floor and apartments on the second floor. Built in 1912, “the property offers the opportunity for a boutique hotel, restaurant or rental income,” according to the listing.” —Noozhawk
