Shopping online is boring! Shopping in person is fun! Go find great things for the people you care about at our many terrific independent stores. In Part 3 of the Shop Local Gift Guide: Field Trip and Mācher (above)—and of course there’s far more at both than whatever caught my eye.
First up, Field Trip in La Arcada Plaza:
···············
Do, a deer, a female deer ($24)….
···············
Solar-powered lanterns ($42-$51)
···············

···············
Indian blanket scarves ($41), a.k.a. gift wraps.
···············
Miniature picture frames ($18).
···············
Wooden car toys ($45) made by the shop owner’s 90-year-old father.
···············
A new leaf: brass ginkgo ($25).
···············
And now, Mācher in Goleta’s Calle Real Shopping Center:
More gift wraps: House No. 23 bathrobe ($138).

Mācher in Goleta, on Calle Real between Fairview and Patterson, is super cute. Easy and free parking, lunch at Nikka Ramen, groceries at TJs… even if you can’t find a great gift, the atmosphere is a gift in itself for the shopper!
Mācher and Field Trip are two of my favorite shops in town. Both have unique and sustainable finds!
