••• The Santa Barbara outpost of San Diego–based steakhouse chain Rare Society opens June 29, according to Restaurant Guy. Or possibly on June 30, as reported by the New-Press. Either way, it’s in the former Project space on State Street in the Funk Zone.
••• Taza Mediterranean Street Kitchen on State Street (Haley/Gutierrez) has opened. Click on the photo to see it larger. UPDATE: “We’re all gonna have to wait a little longer for Taza to really open,” points out @onsantabarbara. “Per Tuesday’s Instagram story, ‘we decided to shut down and correct a few things with the service model before reopening.'”
••• Broad Street Oyster Co.‘s expansion into the former Modern Times space debuts July 4 weekend. My understanding is that the menu will be more like the much more extensive one at the Malibu outpost.
••• Ever wonder what it’s like to dine at Meet Up Chinese restaurant, where a robot brings food to the table? —Independent
••• Low Pigeon’s transition into a Lighthouse Coffee is underway. The menu will become more like the ones at the other outposts, with pastries but not the more substantial food.
••• A few items from the Santa Ynez Valley: First, K. sends word that there’s a new pizzeria in Buellton called Giorgio’s. The proprietor appears to be Giorgio Curti of Amaranto Catering Company.
••• Second, Solvang’s Whiskey ‘N Rye barbecue restaurant opened yesterday.
