••• Last November, word broke that the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum at the harbor planned on converting its gift shop to “a small coffee bar with limited retail space”—which got a lot more exciting now that we know Dart Coffee Co. will be running it. Look for a fall opening.
••• Augie’s is pressing pause: the restaurant, which opened at State and Ortega a year ago, will close on Monday for a menu and concept refresh; no word yet on when it will reopen.
••• The Riv has an interview with Mary Ta, who is opening a restaurant/shop in the Black Sheep’s former space (Anacapa/Ortega), but there isn’t much about her plans.
••• Restaurant Guy peeked in the window of the Little Alex’s restaurant coming to the Five Points shopping center. Not much progress has been made.
••• The regional franchisee of Mountain Mike’s Pizza says he wants to open locations in Santa Barbara and Goleta. —KSBY
••• A pop-up worth paying attention to: this Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. (till it sells out), The Eddy will be selling bagels from Ojai’s Pinyon and coffee from Coastal Coffee Collective.
••• Speaking of bagels, new menu items at Merci are always worth noting, and the bialys are a winner. Available seeded or unseeded, they come with Boursin cream cheese or French onion cream cheese (and lox if you’d like to upgrade). There’s also a quiche at breakfast, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Where did you hear about Augies? Have they made any public announcement because I couldn’t find it. They are indeed reopening right? Hopefully just revamping the menu and not the spirits! (Also selfishly have a gift card I need to use)
They told me.
Hopefully they are revamping their service standards. Service has been very poor every time I’ve gone.
Are there any updates about Azul Cocina?
No, and they don’t respond to inquiries.
Someone at Corazon told me they would be opening “soon” and when I inquired about the menu she said it would be different. Disappointing because I would like to get some of my favorite items at a less hectic and noisy spot than the public market. Very happy the PM is doing well but it can get crazy there on the weekends.
Think you might have the restaurants confused. Don’t think they have anything to do with Azul.
Oops, you’re right. I thought this was about new Corazon place in Montecito. I’ve lost track of the different restaurants going into the space on Anapuma. Such a great location but nothing seems to work there since Arts and letters closed down.
I forgot Augies is still open. So many better restaurants in town with tastier food and “I better sit inside so I don’t get my stuff stolen” vibe.
