And the new listings keep coming….
There are bold choices galore at 813 Romero Canyon Road ($20 million), built in 2012 and said to have been inspired by Aman Resorts. I’m sure it’s a sweet place to spend time, but it’s not going to be to everyone’s taste, and $20 million seems like a lot for a five-bedroom house with no guesthouse this far from the Golden Quadrangle. P.S. Love the trio of ceiling fans inset above the master bed.
················
Meanwhile, the seven-bedroom 700 E. Mountain Drive ($8.995 million) gets you 1,700 more square feet, a broad expanse of outdoor area, a one-bedroom pool cabana, and a “luxury tree fort.” (No photos of the latter, alas.) Of course, there’s more fire risk that far up the hill.
················
The other listing photos for 1015 E. Mountain Drive ($16.95 million) include a fair amount of virtual enhancement, toning down the saturated colors seen above to pleasing effect. The 10,000-square-foot house is impressive, more so if you’re OK with the dated floors.
················
If you’ve ever been on El Bosque, you probably noticed the distinctive facade of 600 El Bosque Road ($4.25 million). Inside is less interesting, and I fear a bit dark, although that could just be the photos.
················
Way up Palomino Road, 1170 Palomino Road ($2.695 million) is a 2000 house with some appealing architectural details and finishes, which a little minimalism might bring out. And the kitchens and baths could use some updating.
················
More stone floors that I wish were wood at 2239 Featherhill Road ($3.795 million), an otherwise likable house on an acre.
················
The exterior of 1263 Dover Lane ($2.875 million) has glamorous potential, and the living spaces look sharp, but the bathrooms are not up to snuff.
················
And a few others worth checking out:
••• 2997 Glen Albyn Drive ($1.199 million, above): adorable 1870 house that went pending immediately.
••• 50 Rubio Road ($2.445 million): if views are all you really care about.
••• 3755 Lincolnwood Drive ($2.499 million): 1980s suburban-Tudor-barn hybrid in San Roque.
••• 18 E. Los Olivos Street ($2.45 million): Upper East fixer on .33 acre.
••• 4519 Via Maria ($2.495 million, below): you know you’re in for an experience whenever a listing says it’s an artist’s home.
