Aiming High in Bel Air Knolls

And the new listings keep coming….

1225 Manitou Lane ($4.5 million) in Bel Air Knolls was bought for $3 million in late 2018 and given a stylish renovation. The only dings I can see: two of the four bedrooms share a bath, and the price is high for that part of town.

················

The price of 1890 Jelinda Drive ($7.8 million) would appear to be all about the impressive 2.9 acres in Ennisbrook, because the interiors are so 80s you can smell the Bijan. Note the massive motor court, dual fireplaces in the living room, and the eerie semi-staging.

················

There’s been a lot of turnover recently on Montecito’s School House Road. The latest entrant: 1333 School House Road ($4.495 million), a 1962 house designed by Peter Becker and given an of-the-moment remodel.

················

The single-level midcentury house at 1134 Hill Road ($3.695 million) has some nice contemporary stylings—if only the floors were wood—but it’s right on the train tracks/freeway.

················

Great views and a fabulous deck at 453 Vista de la Playa ($3.95 million) in Alta Mesa, but I can’t see it going for near $4 million with those finishes. P.S. What’s the deal with all the two-tops? Is it a B&B?

················

Having been bought in mid-2018 and freshly redone, 419 E. Arrellaga Street ($2.295 million) looks like a spec reno. There’s a surprising lack of curb appeal for a 1928 house; things improve inside.

················

234 W. Islay Street ($1.75 million) hasn’t changed hands in the modern era, and it shows. There’s charm in the 1910 duplex, if you’re up for a project.

················

Same goes for the 1916 house at 871 Tornoe Road ($2.05 million) in Mission Canyon…

················

…and 140 Middle Road ($4.95 million), just above Coast Village Road. The listing includes a warning: “Built in the early 1900s it is ready for renovation into your own special dream home.”
