A Kitchen Fit for an Influencer

In lieu of an open-house roundup—which haven’t started up again yet—here are some noteworthy properties that have just come on the market.

Up by the Botanic Garden, 1138 Palomino Road ($2.99 million) is a mystery: Parts of the 2011 house look as fresh as can be; others, less so. I hope we get to see what someone does with it someday. In the meantime, the kitchen and laundry room deserve a place on your Pinterest board.

The 1933 house at 1051 Arbolado Road ($3.95 million) has been redone with a level of style not often seen on the Riviera; there’s nary a questionable decision to be found. Even rarer, it looks better in real life than in the listing photos. The view—of the city below and the coastline beyond—is amazing, and it’ll be even better when the next owner pays to have the power lines buried. (The utility company is onboard, for a price.) For all the considerable livability, the house is small, just 2,325 square feet.

“The original home was remodeled by the current owner,” says the listing for 1536 Miramar Beach ($8.35 million), but it doesn’t specify when, and unless you like the country vibe, the interiors want to be totally redone. Still, the house has a lot of beachfront and whatever you call curb appeal from the ocean side.

For a 1989 house that’s never been listed, 1218 Harbor Hills Drive ($3.995 million) looks pretty good. If you smoothed some of the architectural flourishes and redid the kitchens (and likely the baths), you’d have quite the Mesa palace. While you’re at it, take the white exterior down a notch or two and plant some bougainvillea….

Diana Lane and Diana Road, where the Eastside meets the Lower Riviera, are home to many midcentury Spanish houses by architect/developer Alex D’Alfonso. 1221 Diana Lane ($1.895 million) doesn’t look like much from the street, but it has appealing spaces inside, and the land rises behind the house, making it much more interesting than a simple flat yard.
