••• Santa Barbara City College’s new physical fitness facility goes before the city’s Architectural Board of Review on Monday for a pre-application courtesy review. “Project includes the construction of a new 77,187-square-foot, 4-story structure containing classrooms, gymnasium, locker rooms, administration space, and support spaces. Also proposed are site improvements including new paving, stairs, and landscaping.” The full design packet is here. According to an Edhat article in October, the budget is $40 million.
••• A neat initiative from Allen Construction to help area businesses affected by the pandemic get back on their feet: “We’d like to offer our services (free of charge) to implement some small renovation projects for local businesses who may not have the manpower or skills to do it on their own.” Here’s how to nominate a business.
••• The Montecito Association started up its email updates again. This struck me as a tad overheated….
1. Should we put up banners at various entries to Montecito stating that masks are required? […]
2. We’re looking to put up small signage at the Upper Village businesses. These signs would be accompanied by masks, made by the Bucket Brigade, that we could enclose in zip log bags. […]
3. We’ve also initiated a dialogue with our county supervisor on these concerns. The Health Officer order mandating masks came with a $1,000 fine. Who enforces that? When does enforcement start?
••• From the city: “As the City of Santa Barbara moves to re-open according to the phased approach directed by Santa Barbara County and State Public Health Orders, City Parking Enforcement will begin actively enforcing all timed-parking zones effective June 1, 2020. City Parking Enforcement will issue warnings until the first-of-the-month enforcement date. Parking regulations involving City Street Sweeping will to phased-in at a later date. Downtown City Parking Lots will still offer parking free of charge.” According to the little note left under my windshield on Castillo Street yesterday, street-sweeping enforcement starts July 1.
••• Two recent sales of note: 1) 722 Via Mañana sold quickly at the asking price of $5.25 million.
••• And this year finally has a sale over $10 million! 4225 Cresta Avenue in Hope Ranch went for $10.5 million, having been listed as high as $18 million and most recently at $13.75 million.
