The County Seeks Volunteers for Covid-19 Response Team

••• The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department seeks volunteers for its Covid-19 response team: “Positions will be available for remote work and community work. Some examples of roles available include: Contact Tracer, Nurse, Investigator/Interviewer, Driver, Outreach Worker. Persons applying are not required to have previous training, however clinical degrees or bilingual abilities will be required for certain positions.” More info here.

••• The Montecito Trails Foundation posted on Instagram that it has arranged with MarBorg for “increased pick-ups, an additional trash can, and recycling,” presumably at this trailhead.

••• The city’s Historic Landmarks Commission is considering changes to the Historic Resources Ordinance: “City Council and the public have requested revisions to the current ordinance to include criteria and process for the City to adopt historic districts as part of implementing the goals of the General Plan. Other revisions include updating and incorporating language consistent with State and National Historic Preservation standards, as well as streamlining the process to review alterations to historic structures.” The 44-page draft is here, but there’s no redline version to compare changes easily. A presentation summarizing the changes was made to the to Historic Landmarks Commission last week; watch the video. “A subsequent public hearing to discuss and review the draft Ordinance will be scheduled before the Historic Landmarks Commission at a later date. The Planning Commission, the City Council Ordinance Committee and the City Council will also review the document at public meetings prior to final adoption.”

••• Press release from the county: “The Santa Barbara County Arts Commission, Santa Barbara Foundation, and Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation are collaborating on a new Covid-19 Relief Grant Program for arts and culture nonprofits. More than $75,000 will be disbursed in two cycles to support county arts and culture nonprofits impacted by Covid-19. The application is available at sbac.ca.gov/county-grants. Submissions are due by May 24. The County Office of Arts and Culture will host an online grant workshop for interested applicants at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 13.”
