••• The Santa Barbara County Courthouse’s observation deck has reopened. Speaking of the courthouse: “The ‘bells’ are now sounding the hours and quarter hours with acoustic guitar tones for Fiesta,” emailed D. “Very cool! I’ve never noticed this before…?” The guitar chime has been going on since at least 2012, according to a National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors forum post.
••• Carpinteria’s Heritage Goods & Supply took over the rest of Westward General’s lease at 160 W. Alamar Avenue. (Westward General is looking for a new space.) I’m not sure whether it’s temporary or permanent.
••• From what I can tell, 4602 Carpinteria Avenue (former site of Eye of the Day) was purchased by Cupertino-based real estate developer KT Urban.
••• From Caltrans: “One-way traffic control on Highway 154 near Los Olivos will start on Monday, August 5, to allow Caltrans to begin a roundabout construction project on Hwy. 154 at the intersection of Baseline Avenue/Edison Street. […] This project is expected to be complete in Spring 2025.”

••• Every second Sunday of the month is now free at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
••• I finally paid a visit to Loud Flower Art Co. and Restricted Goods, which share a storefront on E. Haley Street between Olive and Salsipuedes. Loud Flower is mainly screen-printed merchandise, with other fun stuff mixed in; Restricted Goods is devoted to art and art books. Both have an exuberant, DIY aesthetic that we could use more of in Santa Barbara—and the Haley Street Corridor is the perfect place for it. P.S. Founders Madi Manson and Ben Bishop added more signage after I stopped by, and it looks snazzy; I’ll try to update the photo. P.P.S.
