White Caps Is Opening in the Funk Zone

••• Summerland’s White Caps Beach Club now has a second food truck—and this one is in the Funk Zone, at the corner of Yanonali and Gray, formerly home to SB Buggie. (And Elubia’s Kitchen will join it one day.) This weekend, White Caps is open 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m, and starting this week, it’ll be open Wednesday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The lunch/dinner menu is here, and there will also be beer and wine. The forthcoming breakfast menu is below. (The bagels are from Yetz’s.) This is a temporary activation of the space; the longterm plan is unknown.

••• The forthcoming Goleta outpost of Camarillo’s Cagami Ramen changed its name on Instagram to Takashi Ramen. No clue if it’s still affiliated with Cagami.

••• The restaurant space on the ground floor of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum is being renamed Dive Restaurant and Bar, says Restaurant Guy; above it will presumably still be Anchor Rose, while the former Endless Summer space will be called Anchor Lounge. Wake me when any of it becomes good.

••• It’s worth paying attention to Dang Burger on Instagram: the restaurant has been having fun with specials such as patty melts, BLTs, chili dogs, tomato sandwiches, turkey clubs, meatloaf sandwiches (below), braised lamb sandwiches, and more—all with the quality ingredients you see in the burgers.

Judge for yourself has become our favorite non-bougie breakfast place since our favorite Cajun closed on De La Vina. Such a great deal for so much food and the staff is so nice. I really hope someone doesn’t flip it into another overpriced brunch spot.

1200 block of state turning into an amazing block for great food. Arigato’s, Sama Sama, Bibi Ji, the Daisy (haven’t been yet but heard good things) and now the new Mexican seafood place. Good job SB.

Anyone who names their restaurant Dive needs to re-examine their head. Who want to eat at a Dive?

I love dive restaurant. Usually non pretentious with great food at reasonable prices. SB used to have some great dives on “lower State ST.”.

I think dang ( dang burger ) is as terrible as dive. Not sure who they are trying to attract as a customer???
