••• A week ago, J. emailed to say that Pizza Mizza in La Arcada Plaza seemed to be closed, but then walked it back when the restaurant was subsequently open. Now Restaurant Guy is reporting that Yelp lists it as permanently shuttered. (There are two Yelp pages for Pizza Mizza; one says it’s closed, and the other says it’s open.) So I called the restaurant yesterday, and it was open for business as usual. The confusion may stem from the restaurant being closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Perhaps one of Restaurant Guy’s readers will see this and let him know. UPDATE 6/14: “I was trying to book a birthday party at Pizza Mizza and no one was getting back to me,” says C. “I finally went in there today to ask and was told the arcade is shutting, so something is up for sure.”
••• I have it on good authority that Dart Coffee Co. is expanding again, this time with an outpost in the multi-tenant complex at 700 Linden Avenue, where Bettina, Third Window Brewing, and Corazón Cocina have already been announced. The only remaining food-and-beverage space is the roof deck.
••• During a meeting of Carpinteria’s Architectural Review Board, the principal land-use planner working on the revamp of The Palms said that the restaurant will be “a casual family dining experience.” Am I the only one hoping for something more ambitious? (UPDATE: I hear that the downstairs and rooftop will be casual, and a “chef’s kitchen” concept will be on the second floor.) —Coastal View News

••• Validation Annex, the outpost of Validation Ale coming to the Grocery Outlet complex on De La Vina Street, will be larger than initially reported: “We took an additional 1,200 square feet and will be adding golf simulators,” says co-founder Brian Deignan. They’re shooting for late summer.

••• A help-wanted ad confirms the rumor that L.A.’s Highly Likely is opening in Ojai (presumably at the former Beacon Coffee location): “We are an all day dining restaurant and bar serving a chef driven menu for breakfast/lunch/dinner, 3rd wave coffee, natural wine, and craft cocktails.” The ad says the restaurant is due in the fall.

Bettina’s, Corazon, third Window and Dart coffee all together!? I may need to move down to Carp.
I know, some of our favorites for sure!
Great, more coffee, pizza, and Mexican food. How refreshing. Totally don’t have way too much of all of that in SB already. The boring trifecta of food keeps spreading. It’s like a virus.
I agree!
2 are Michelin bib restaurants and third window does smashburgers and pizza. All excellent.
