••• After 19 years, Cabana Home is moving from the Funk Zone to 925 De La Vina (Canon Perdido/Carrillo):
Renowned design firm Cabana Home is about to settle into the most important late 19th-century building in Santa Barbara at 925 De La Vina Street. From their original Funk Zone’s former bakery warehouse to Fabled Gables, a landmark Italianate Victorian built in 1874, the design team of Caroline Thompson and Steve Thompson were inspired by their European travels to inhabit a space with rich architectural details and socially significant provenance. The team will be in residence by appointment in May.
They will be hosting a 60% off sale April 23 through 26 (10 a.m.-6 p.m.) at 111 Santa Barbara Street. Furnishings from the showroom will include legendary makers like Lee, Baker, Arteriors, Janus et Cie, Bernhardt, Visual Comfort, Currey & Co, Hickory Chair, and Century.
••• The Marcus boutique on Coast Village Road has closed. That’s a big, prominent space—it’ll be interesting to see what takes it.
••• West Coast Pharmacy, which has locations in Thousand Oaks and Ventura, has opened at Goleta’s Calle Real Shopping Center. The goal, says founder Gary Klass, is “combatting the current state of the pharmacy industry, which is being dominated by players like CVS and Rite Aid, both of which which we fell have forgotten about the true needs of both the clients as well as the providers who are prescribing medication. We are hoping to bring back the core values of the traditional pharmacies and become a service partner in the community around Goleta and Santa Barbara.” And it’ll deliver to your home.

Spring will have the incomparable Hershey Felder performing his amazing show about one of America’s greatest composers, George Gershwin, in George Gershwin Alone [below]. And ETC’s 46th season will close with Justice, about the first female justices appointed to the highest court in our nation.”
••• M. asked whether the new stop sign on Hot Springs Road at Riven Rock Road is permanent. Here’s what the county said: “The County installed the sign on March 21. The all-way stop was brought before the Board of Supervisors by the 1st District Supervisor’s Office to address the concerns a resident had for speeding on Hot Springs Road. All stop locations require the Board to pass a resolution. Hot Springs Road can not have speed humps to address speeding because of its use for emergency access and evacuations.”

••• After I posted about the dragon sculpture at a West Mesa house under construction, I heard from Steve Litchfield of Litchfield Builders, the contractor on the project: “It’s all made out of scrap metal by a sculptor in the Philippines then shipped to a distributor in Las Vegas.” And he sent over a couple of better photos. (Meanwhile, “My very nerdy boyfriend tells me that the three-headed dragon statue is almost certainly ‘Godzilla’s coolest enemy, King Ghidorah,’ commented Toasteroven.)
