Lake Tahoe Activewear Company to Open a State Street Store

••• Lake Tahoe–based activewear company Venture has chosen Santa Barbara for its second store, opening sometime this month on State Street between Gutierrez and Haley. (The company is being coy about exactly where.) The apparel is for men and women. “We really focus on fabrics, function, and comfort, while trying to source and use recycled materials for when possible,” says founder Mitch Fusek. UPDATE: It’s in the former Energy Tattoo space at 428 State Street.

••• Press release: “The Santa Barbara International Orchid Show returns to Earl Warren Showgrounds, March 8-10 for the 76th year. The prestigious show occupies 22,000 square feet of elaborate floor displays along with a 13,000 square foot international flower market.” One new addition this year is Orchids After Dark (March 9), which sounds like a burlesque show but is not. “The Orchids After Dark event will feature an after-hours vibe with enhanced lighting, cash bar, and DJ. For three hours you can explore the massive exhibit, take pictures of your favorite orchids, enjoy drinks and music.”

••• Four more Santa Barbara Bowl shows were announced: Tedeschi Trucks Band, with Little Feat opening, on June 5; Whiskey Myers on June 18; Cage the Elephant with Young the Giant on July 3; and Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue on September 5.

••• Press release from the city: “The Sustainability & Resilience Department and Public Works Department are proud to announce the opening of the first electric vehicle fast chargers hosted at a City facility. The new fast chargers, located at the Ortega Parking Garage (Lot 10) in the heart of downtown, can rapidly charge any EV with up to a 200-mile range in as little as 15 minutes. The Ortega garage site includes 12 Tesla Superchargers on the third floor of the garage and four ChargePoint fast chargers on the second floor.
