••• If I learned one thing from a hike at Figueroa Mountain last week, it was that making a day feel different from all the rest can really lift the mood. So why not do something special for Easter? Hook & Press has a $16 box of four special Easter donuts; pictured above is the “Browned Butter Bunny Bottom: browned butter glaze, Easter sprinkles, vanilla buttercream bunny tail, marshmallow bunny feet.” Order by noon on Saturday for scheduled curbside pickup or delivery.
••• Or consider Bree’osh’s $90 Easter meal, with one chicken pie (serves 6-8), a bottle of Wenzlau Chardonnay, and six chocolate cross buns.
••• I’m not sure whether Twenty-Four Blackbirds is doing anything special for the holiday, but everything is 15% off. (“Free curbside pickup” is a less extraordinary deal.)
••• The new owner of the Wine Cask and Intermezzo tells Restaurant Guy about his plans for the establishments when they reopen, but it’s all still a bit vague. “The menu will change but not dramatically, [John] O’Neill says, offering ‘a brighter, fresher vision of the historic flavors that have come through the room’; in other words, new, refined takes on the modern-American palette [sic?]. The 7,500-square-foot restaurant will offer something exciting—a martini bar, perhaps—in the current tasting room; an enlivened but still-casual experience in Intermezzo and a new bar and a livelier style in the dramatic Gold Room.”
••• Wine + Beer, the shop at the Santa Barbara Public Market, is discounting everything on its website by 20%.
••• La Super-Rica Taqueria let Restaurant Guy know that it’s open. I added it to the list of noteworthy open restaurants. The photo below was taken before social distancing.
