••• Anderson Aquatics has opened in the former Diver’s Den/Muller Aquatic Center space in the Funk Zone, offering “a variety of innovative water fitness and rehabilitation programs for all ages in their 91-degree pool. With over 25 years of combined experience in the aquatics industry, Breanna and Travis Anderson have a passion for helping clients meet their health and wellness goals, whether that means recovering from surgery, reducing fall risk, improving athletic performance, or losing weight. Patrons can choose from personal training sessions or floating body work for more individualized attention, or they can join one of the 20-plus weekly small group classes, like Aqua Yoga, Boot Camp, and Aqua Hips & Knees. Open pool hours are also available seven days a week for independent exercise.”

••• An update on the rumor that Glen Annie Golf Club is being sold: “I am the local land use representative of the Glen Annie Golf Course,” emailed a planner at Flowers & Associates. “The reader’s inquiry is likely related to the County of Santa Barbara’s Housing Element process. For background, the County is looking at numerous properties as part of a comprehensive planning effort, which is required by the state to create new housing. Glen Annie has been on the list as a potential site since early 2023. However, this is only a policy discussion at this time. Golf, fundraising events, and other operations remain ongoing. There is no plan to close or sell the property.”

••• The Santa Barbara Harbor Parade of Lights is December 10. Don’t rock the boat, baby!

Beginning at 3 p.m., families can visit a Winter Wonderland on the City Pier in Santa Barbara Harbor. There will be holiday elves, 12 tons of snow, goodie bags, and a visit by Santa himself! The parade competition starts at 3:30 p.m. with the Human-Powered category. Dozens of standup paddlers and kayakers dressed in jolly attire will paddle through the harbor and around Stearns Wharf spreading holiday cheer for all to hear. At 5 p.m., a holiday tree lighting ceremony, complete with holiday tunes sung by Dos Pueblos Jazz Choir, will be held on Stearns Wharf next to the Sea Center. Then, at 5:30 p.m., around 30 illuminated watercraft, bedecked to this year’s theme, “Holiday Disco Extravaganza,” will light up the night as they make their way from Leadbetter Beach down the coast to the Cabrillo Arts Pavilion, then back along the coast to Stearns Wharf. The parade will be capped off by a brief fireworks show. Best viewing locations for the boat parade and fireworks include Stearns Wharf, the breakwater, West Beach, and East Beach.

••• Those of you who were impressed that my mother-in-law went ziplining will really like that the experience stirred something in her, and she subsequently signed up to go on a tandem ride with Willy Dydo of Fly Away Hang Gliding. They met in Parma Park, drove up Gibraltar Road nearly all the way to Camino Cielo, where they waited till the winds were behaving correctly. Most people get 10 minutes and land in Parma Park; because conditions were ideal, Barbara was up there for 30 minutes, making it all the way to East Beach. She said she never felt unsafe and would definitely recommend Willy. And she has been thinking about skydiving next….
