••• La Michoacána has opened at 21 N. Milpas (between Mason and Quinientos), says the Restaurant Guy. According to the company’s website, it’s a chain based in the Inland Empire. “La Michoacana USA specializes in Esquimals (Milk based pop covered with chocolate and topped with shredded coconut), Pico de Gallo Paleta (Water based pop with mixtures of mango, cucumber, lime juice and chile powder), as well as representative Mexican fruit ice cream such as Mamey or Guanabana. We are not limited to refreshing All Natural Aguas Frescas based on seasonal fruit, we also offer traditional Mexican snacks such as Esquites, Tostilocos and more.”

••• “The popular M. Special Brewery has leased the 4,000-square-foot former Tonic space at 634 State St. in downtown Santa Barbara. […] Counting Funk Zone breweries, there are about 17 taprooms in or near downtown.
