Wildflower Season Has Started Early on Anacapa Island

••• “The wildflower bloom on Anacapa is minimal and early,” says Island Packers. “It looks like the peak will be in the next couple weeks. With the gulls just starting to set up their nesting territories, it’s a great time to be out there.” Perhaps the rain forecast for Saturday will help extend the season… (Thanks to Lisa Lenn Waters Anderson for the photos.)

••• Hania Tallmadge, the niece of Lotusland founder Ganna Walska, has written a book about her aunt: Ganna Walska: Portraits of an Era. “The book offers a rich visual survey of times gone by, along with personal insight into Ganna’s exuberant life. Through her niece’s remembrances and rarely seen images, Madame Walska’s story springs to life and reads like a Hollywood movie. You can purchase Portraits of an Era online or after a tour in our Garden Shop.”

••• For this weekend’s “late night screenings”—which are at 9 p.m.—the Riviera Theatre is screening The Host by Bong Joon-ho, who directed Parasite. Am I the only one who found the point of Parasite a bit murky? The lower-class characters were morally dubious, to say the least, while the upper-class ones were vapid but apparently good.

••• A sale of note: The non-adobe at 2850 Torito Road sold for $2.95 million, after being listed in January for $3.295 million.
