The Miramar Resort Is Adding More Shopping

••• The stairs at Thousand Steps Beach have reopened after a six-month redo.

••• The mallification of the Rosewood Miramar Beach resort continues. From the agenda for Thursday’s meeting of the Montecito Board of Architectural Review: “conceptual review of alterations of existing resort shops consisting of enclosing 783 square feet of existing patios and an addition of 185 square feet, and alteration of the northwest corner of the manor house consisting of conversion of the fitness center to a resort shop, enclosing 500 square feet of the existing patio, and an addition of 243 square feet.”

••• The Beads shop has found a new location—12 E. Cota Street (between State and Anacapa)—and it opens October 17.

••• Opening October 6: Ensemble Theatre Company‘s production of Carmen Jones: “Oscar Hammerstein adapted the beloved opera into a rarely performed African-American Broadway musical. The classic story of the bewitching Carmen is set in the 1940s in a parachute factory, with all of Bizet’s famous music.” Below: Fredericka Meek and Chauncey Packer, photographed by Zach Mendez.

••• On the agenda for Thursday’s meeting of the city Planning Commission: a new 3,285-square-foot oceanfront house at 2315 Edgewater Way. The design is by Blackbird Architects.

••• The Big Yellow House in Summerland is on the market for $8.25 million.

••• Hotel Santa Barbara has been a new color scheme, and it’s definitely an improvement. (I assume the front is next.) Here’s hoping the makeover continues inside.

I thought the owners of the bead shop were retiring and moving out of SB. Did they sell the biz to new owners?
