••• From a reader: “What do you know about the Farmacy Santa Barbara not renewing the lease for Derf’s? I’ve heard end of year and then a parking lot to support their business. An offer may have been made to buy Derf’s liquor license which would indicate they want to continue as a restaurant but the offer, as of now, was declined.” I have no idea whether any of that is true, but I went over to Derf’s (Mission/De La Vina), where I was told that the lease is up at year end and they’re hoping to renew, but they don’t know yet whether that will happen. Derf’s and the Farmacy cannabis shop are on the same lot, and the owner is an LLC affiliated with the owner of Farmacy’s parent company, Glass House Brands.
••• Fresco Cafe announced that its new location, on E. Canon Perdido (State/Anacapa), opens September 26 29 [Update: it got pushed back], with a party a couple of days earlier: “Please join us for our opening celebration on Saturday the 24th from 12-3! We will be providing food and drinks and a great time!”
••• Beans BBQ is closing at the end of the month: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Beans On State will be closing. Our final days of service will be Thursday-Saturday 9/22, 23, 24th and the following week Thursday-Saturday 9/29-10/1. We will be serving dinner from 4:00-9:00 on these last few days of service. We are looking into a smaller, less expensive space and hope to revamp and bring our delicious BBQ back to our wonderful community very soon!”
••• “The original owners of the Brewhouse are selling their beloved restaurant and brewery on W. Montecito Street in Santa Barbara. The new owners [Grant Danely and Joal Clayton]—both longtime customers raised on the Mesa, one a current employee—plan to bring renewed energy and much-needed investment to the establishment, which is the oldest brewery in town.” —Independent
