••• Paradise Cafe has reopened, now under the ownership of Acme Hospitality, the company behind the Lark, Loquita, et al. Restaurant Guy has photos of the menu; predictably, a commenter is already complaining that too much has changed, even though that restaurant was dying for a tune-up.
••• Café Ana‘s early-bird breakfast special, available weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., is clearly the best breakfast deal in town: two eggs, two strips of bacon, roasted tomatoes, toast, and a coffee for $7.
••• I can’t tell whether the Ca’ Dario outpost coming to Coast Village Road is close to ready or not far along at all.
••• Sweet Wheel Farm & Flowers, the cute cart that has been parked outside Letter Perfect in Summerland, has moved to the Letter Perfect on Coast Village Road. Also: “We’re proud to announce however that we will continue serving the Summerland community with a new farm fresh box service starting on February 1.”
••• “Chef Ramon Velazquez [of Corazón Cocina is] now making pub grub for Santa Barbara Public Market’s beer hall.” One standout is said to be “the grilled cheese served on Oat Bakery sourdough complete with grilled onions and short rib birria with aus jus on the side.” —The Independent
••• I don’t shop at Lazy Acres often, and when I do, I tend to ignore the central part that’s about health, wellness, etc. But I was looking for kosher salt—no one in town has anything but Morton’s!—so I kept an eye on the signs above each aisle. The phrase “bulk herbs” caught my attention; it’s more like bulk spices, but I love it. What a fantastic idea.
