Montecito Retail: One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

••• Marcus, in the two-story building at 1155 Coast Village Road, is definitely a women’s fashion boutique. Nothing online about it yet, that I could find. It looks like it’ll open imminently.

••• Up at the Montecito Village shopping center, meanwhile, The Stationery Collection is closing. The farewell post:

After 85 years in Santa Barbara, The Stationery Collection will be closing its doors. Established in 1935, and known in it’s different iterations, Paul Scott Stationer—being one, the business has had a long-standing legacy of being under the ownership of passionate paper and design lovers. Over the past 15 years, Marika has enjoyed being a part of that legacy as an employee and later as shop owner, preparing creative invitations for special events, connecting with customers and friends alike, designing stationery to perfectly compliment each client and being able to serve the community in both great and difficult times. Unfortunately, keeping with the trends of a diminishing market and the cost of operation is something that is no longer possible. Additionally, in early January, Marika will welcome her second child and will take the time away to prioritize her growing family.

We are currently offering 50% OFF all items in store and will remain open through January to accommodate any personalized orders, liquidation and engraving die return. Beginning January we will be open limited hours and by appointment only, so please be sure to contact the shop via phone 805-969-3414 or email [email protected] first.

Thank you for your years of patronage and support.
Your friends, The Stationery Collection Team, past and present

••• And Oliver & Espig jewelry store is moving to Florida.

••• A recent sale of note: the cute-but-needs-serious-work midcentury house at 238 Miramar Avenue in Montecito’s Hedgerow went for $2.9 million. It was first listed in April for $3.75 million.

••• As you can see below, the Toro Creek Bridge has reopened to two-way traffic. Shivers is with Caltrans, and his. tweet is from late last week, so the temporary full closures are this week.
