••• As has been rumored, Chris Chiarappa (Mesa Burger, Lighthouse Coffee, and more) is opening an ice cream shop on the Mesa. Sweetie’s will be at 1826A Cliff Drive, two doors to the right of the Cliff Room, and the ice cream will come from McConnell’s.
••• The restaurant taking over the former JJ’s Diner space at 413 State (Haley/Gutierrez) changed its name from Mezze Street Kitchen to Taza Mediterranean Street Kitchen. It’s shooting to open next week.
••• Intermezzo by Wine Cask clarified that it’s opening a private dining/tasting room, not a bar, in the former Cebada Winery space across the paseo.
••• Rory’s Place in Ojai is now serving brunch on weekends (10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.). The menu:
••• Two updates from the Santa Barbara Public Market: Shalhoob’s is indeed expanding its footprint there with a bar toward the back, and the market is working on a small private space that can be reserved.
••• Cajé has some fun T-shirts and sweatshirts for sale at its Isla Vista location.
••• Rather than stay closed on Tuesdays, Bar Le Côte in Los Olivos has been experimenting with a Thai pop-up called Na Na Thai: “Our friends Nikolas and Ashley Ramirez have been working on an idea for awhile [….] Na Na Thai is their ode to their time living in Bangkok working in restaurants. They miss the flavors and creativity of Thai cuisine especially what one could dine in the markets. We are gonna open at 4 p.m. and go until we are sold out…. We are gonna try and do this weekly [but] no to-go yet as some of you have asked. Soon though.”
