••• Advance tickets are on sale for the Santa Barbara Museum of Art‘s big show, “Through Vincent’s Eyes: Van Gogh and His Sources,” opening February 27: “Presenting 20 works of art by Van Gogh alongside some 75 objects selected to reflect the surprisingly varied art that he most admired, the show firmly reconnects Vincent to his late 19th-century context. ••• Press release: “A new poetry award will recognize three Santa Barbara Country poets with cash awards. Inspired by poet Carol DeCanio Abeles, the prize is intended to encourage adult poets who have not yet published a full-length book of poems. Each prize is awarded for a single poem, and poets can send up to three poems per entry. Three awards will be given: first place ($500), runner-up ($300), and second runner-up ($200). Winners will be shared online and on social media by Santa Barbara’s own independent poetry publisher, Gunpowder Press, as well as being displayed by the Library.” Just think how good “prize-winning poet” will look on your Hinge profile….
••• Three interesting tidbits from Hayes Commercial Group‘s year-end report: 1) “Planet Fitness leased the 21,372-square-foot anchor space in the Albertsons center at 7127 Hollister Avenue [in Goleta]. If you are having déjà vu, Planet Fitness leased the same space in 2020 but never moved in and ultimately terminated that lease. This time it appears they will actually open for business in March.” 2) “Cottage Clinics leased 2,500 square feet in the Marc complex at 3885 State [near La Cumbre Plaza] for a walk-in clinic.” 3) And my favorite: “A number of wealthy individuals purchased small industrial properties in Santa Barbara for personal use (i.e. man-caves).”

••• Lindsey Buckingham plays the Lobero Theatre on April 15. I should’ve dug up one of his solo tunes, but I view this as a rare opportunity to run the weird and wonderful title track from Fleetwood Mac’s 1979 double album.

I saw Fleetwood Mac in 1979 on their “Tusk” tour at The Forum in L.A. And yes the USC marching band was there in full uniform to perform on the title track.
