In November, I reported that Corazón Cocina‘s Ramon Velazquez had taken over the former Ca’Dario Pizzeria space at 29 E. Victoria Street, but that was all I knew—and given the proximity to Corazón Cocina’s outpost in the Santa Barbara Public Market, I wondered whether this was a relocation rather than a new establishment. Well, it is indeed a new endeavor. According to the website, Corazón Guisados will be “a fast casual restaurant concept featuring street tacos and Mexican food,” while its Instagram bio promises “homemade guisados, tamales and churros”; both say it’s coming soon. (Epicurious defines guisado as “a term for something braised, stewy, homey, and delicious.”)
This will be Velazquez’s third establishment. His second was the outpost of Corazón Cocina at the Project in the Funk Zone, which opened in the summer of 2019.
