A Visit to the New StretchLab Studio

••• Josh and Danielle Rincon of the new StretchLab studio in Montecito—in the same Coast Village Road shopping center as Starbucks—invited me over for a free stretch. Having recently thrown out my back, I couldn’t take them up on the offer, but you should: anyone can make an appointment for a complimentary 15-minute demo. After you do a couple of squats in front of the gizmo shown above, it diagnoses what you need to work on, and you’re off to a bench with a flexologist. (For now, only three patrons are allowed inside at a time.) Flexologists have to have certification in a related field—yoga, Pilates, etc.—and then they go through 60-70 hours of further training, so you’re in good hands, literally and figuratively. If you have a hunch this is something you could use, get over there soon: the rates are 10% off through the end of the month, and you can lock in that rate for life.

••• When the upcoming auction of Patrick Nesbitt’s Summerland estate (120 Montecito Ranch Lane) was announced, I neglected to dig into the interior photos. My loss! The place is extra, tilting at times toward high-end bordello, then to bar mitzvah banquet hall, and then to strip-mall day spa. Definitely worth a look, although you may end up jealous of his hard-earned wealth. P.S. The drapery salesperson surely deserved a bonus.

••• Architect Jeff Shelton posted a few photos of his round tower house under construction on East Valley Road. That nubby facade is begging to be fondled and/or climbed.

••• From Amtrak: “To safely manage an expected increase in travelers on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner route around the Thanksgiving holiday, reservations will be required [November 23-30] on trains that travel between San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties. [….] Additionally, the Rail 2 Rail program will be suspended during this period—monthly Metrolink and Coaster passes will not be accepted onboard Pacific Surfliner trains on these dates.”

••• In a gambling mood? The City of Santa Barbara Creeks Restoration and Water Quality Improvement Division has a “fantasy rainfall” guessing game going on. Alas, there doesn’t appear to be a prize.
