Secret Bao Has Expanded Its Food Service at Handlebar

••• As of today, Secret Bao is expanding its food service at the Handlebar Coffee Roasters on De La Vina from two days to four—Thursday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The food is some of the most interesting in town (scallop-and-shrimp gyoza, above; what I believe is the current menu, below). And Secret Bao’s curbside dinner service continues, with the goal of expanding to four nights by next week. UPDATE: I went for lunch today, and I can definitely recommend the char siu mandu, tortilla española, and scallop-and-shrimp gyoza.

••• From Tyger Tyger: “Introducing Tyger Tyger’s weekly pop up! Join us every weekend in the month of July for new menu items by Chef Weston Richards! No reservation needed. We’re kicking off our first pop up this Friday & Saturday from 5 p.m.-9 p.m.” Richards was the chef at Les Marchands.

••• A permit at the former Indochine nightclub (434 State Street, at Haley) indicates it may be becoming a brewpub, because that’s exactly what this town needs. —Restaurant Guy

••• The Independent interviews its own Matt Kettmann about his forthcoming book, with photographer Macduff Everton, about county winemakers.

••• Restaurant Guy says that Revolver Pizza is opening on the Westside at 1429 San Andres Street.

••• Mercado el Rey has opened on W. Montecito Street, in a direct challenge to the Santa Cruz Market a tomatillo’s throw away.
