2023 Shop-Local Gift Guide, Part 2

The best gifts come from the heart—and from local independent shops. I’ve done some advance work, but of course there’s far more out there than whatever caught my eye.

••• Shop-Local Gift Guide: Part 1

···············

Gifts for the proud: Goodlanders and pickleballers.
—Goleta cap ($42) and Santa Barbara Pickleball Club sweatshirt ($45) / Mācher
—Gift card / Santa Barbara Pickleball Shop

···············

Here’s to drinking more glamorously in 2024. (The syrups and the ice buckets were both on last year’s list, but no one took the hint.)
—Bacanha syrups ($24) / Domecíl
—Rattan ice buckets ($130-$235) / William Laman
—Rippled drinking glasses ($30) / Kaarem

···············

And here’s to drinking a little less, too.
—Tilden non-alcoholic cocktails ($38) and St. Agrestis Phony Negroni ($15) / The Eddy

···············

I don’t know why anyone would think you need to choose between eating and drinking your feelings, when it’s entirely possible to do both simultaneously. (Kaarem is a clothing boutique in Victoria Court that also has some neat food products and other items.)
—Cocktail napkins ($9) and silver nut bowls ($215) / Field + Fort
—Vietnamese corn snacks ($5.50) / Kaarem
—Tinned fish box set ($125 or $130 wrapped) / The Eddy
—Marble cheese board ($50) / Cheese Shop Santa Barbara

···············

Things you could drink out of, but shouldn’t….
—Blue vases ($58 for the big one) / Santa Barbara Museum of Art
—Gold hammered metal tub ($89) / Cheese Shop Santa Barbara
—Regal Peacock tankard jug ($72) / Eider Studio
—Natural vases ($66 for squat, $75 for tall) / Mācher
—Nesting hedgehogs ($28) / Lewis & Clark

···············

And something you could eat, but shouldn’t….
—Toast stuffed animal ($23) / Treat

···············

Two locally relevant cookbooks—and one that isn’t, but a friend gave it us, and we’ve cooked several recipes successfully (tea-brined duck, parsnip purée, gingerbread with salted caramel whipped cream…).
The Apricot Lane Farms Cookbook ($45) and The Ranch Table ($40) / Folly
The Lost Kitchen ($35) / Diani

···············

Nice napkins make everything taste better.
—Linen napkins ($30 for two) / Domecíl
—Linen napkins ($68 for four) / Eider Studio
—Bell napkin rings ($4) / Diani

···············

Sorry, Kermit: it’s actually not that hard to be green.
—Reusable non-paper towels ($32) / Mission Refill

···············

Make it useful—and stylish.
—Anything apron ($98) / Domecíl
—Tea towels ($48 for two) / Field Trip

···············

How about a little home improvement?
—Head planter ($78) / Botanik
—Best Coast pillow ($54) / Riviera Towel Co.
—Taper candles (from $15) / Gloam Goods
—Pagoda lanterns ($135-$175) / William Laman

···············

Or something totally out of the box?
—Dinosaur bones, “possibly T. Rex” ($30-$40 or $90 for three) / Light + Home pop-up
—Photo portrait session (from $650) / Lindsey Ross, a.k.a. @thealchemistress

I like your list but also think that the BEST gift shop in Santa Barbara is Coast 2 Coast. It is located in La Arcada Court. They have gifts in all price points and for every occasion and they wrap SO Beautifully ❤️❤️❤️ They ship too if you would like!
